MIDDLETOWN — The Rockfall Foundation has announced awards to youth and community environmental leaders, which will be presented Nov. 14.

Andrew Donahue, a senior at Portland High School, will be recognized with the Youth Environmental Leadership Award for his restoration work on the Portland Reservoir hiking rail. Donahue raised money and organized more than 50 volunteers to build two footbridges and clear paths to clean up after the large storms in the last two years.

Christopher Zurcher, founder and editor of CT Environmental Headlines, will receive the Certificate of Appreciation. On his website, which was founded in 2007, Zurcher posts daily updates with environmental news from around the state.

Marcy Klattenberg will receive the Rockfall Foundation’s lifetime achievement award, the Certificate of Honor, for her work as an environmental educator. She was the director of the Outdoor Education Center for Regional School District 13 for more than 25 years until she retired last year. Klattenberg is also a longtime volunteer with groups including the Mattabeseck Audubon Society, the Parklands Committee of the Long Hill Estate and the Friends of Hammonasset State Park.

The awards will be presented at Rockfall’s annual grants and awards celebration at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the deKoven House, 27 Washington St.
